this piece was painted in october of 2004 one afternoon in the side canyon known as elves chasm at mile 116.5 on the colorado river in grand canyon. the view is facing south looking up the creek into the infamous elves chasm, a magical swimming hole and fern covered cave. this canyon is a favorite of river runners often seen as the pivotal half way point for private trips.
