this piece was painted in the summer of 2002 from the giant beach at elk bar around mile 79 on the middle fork of the salmon river in central idaho. painted in the rain under the shelter of a 500 year old ponderosa tree, the view is facing downstream looking towards the infamous impassable canyon.
